Europe Day
Europe Day held on 9 May every year celebrates peace and
unity in Europe. The date marks the anniversary of the historical 'Schuman
declaration'. At a speech in Paris in 1950, Robert Schuman, the then French
foreign minister, set out his idea for a new form of political cooperation in
Europe, which would make war between Europe's nations unthinkable. Schuman's
proposal is considered to be the beginning of what is now the European Union.

Evropa më 9 maj çdo vit feston paqen
dhe unitetin në Evropë. Kjo datë shënon përvjetorin e "Deklaratës historike të
Shumanit". Në një fjalim në Paris në vitin 1950, Robert Shuman, ministri
i jashtëm francez, atëherë, artikuloi idenë e tij për një
formë të re të bashkëpunimit
politik në Evropë, e cila do ta
bënte luftën midis kombeve të
Europës të pamendueshme. Propozimi i Shumanit konsiderohet
të jetë fillimi i asaj që është
tani Bashkimi Evropian.
